Upon his shirt I see a cross
But I see him smoke and curse
Why wear it? It’s a total loss
He’s only making things worse
A cross is dangling above her bust
And her neckline is awfully low
Why is she tempting men to lust
If supposedly Jesus she knows?
The cross is on a bumper sticker
On a big, expensive car
The owner inside drinking liquor
At an upscale gentleman’s bar
A cross is hanging around your neck
But what is inside your heart?
Is your life a total wreck?
Is your family falling apart?
Necklaces, stickers and more
The cross is everywhere
But what are we showing it for
If our heart is not even there?
The outer things are easy to do
Anyone can talk the talk
But until the cross is inside of you
You will never walk the walk
The Lord is looking over the earth
His broken heart is grieved
So few embrace the surpassing worth
Of living what they say they believe
For Your savior, what will you do?
For others will you suffer loss?
I see the cross is on you
But are you on the cross?
- About Me
- I began writing poetry early in my walk with God. I have found it to be the best and sometimes the only way to express what God has made real in my heart. All of these poems are gifts from Heaven to me. Writing them and even re-reading them myself has blessed me beyond measure. I now pass the gift on to you. May you be touched and changed.
