I began writing poetry early in my walk with God. I have found it to be the best and sometimes the only way to express what God has made real in my heart. All of these poems are gifts from Heaven to me. Writing them and even re-reading them myself has blessed me beyond measure. I now pass the gift on to you. May you be touched and changed.

Simple Thanks

What can I give to God
For all He’s given me?
What gift is worthy, Lord
For one so great as Thee?
Can I ever recompense
All You’ve given free?

Lord I give my wealth
At Thy feet I lay my gold
But what if I even had
Riches uncounted, untold?
Naked I was when I came
Nothing in death will I hold

What if I gave my life?
And placed my will at Thy feet?
Can e’en a total surrender
Make Thy vastness complete
Oh, this is naught but folly
You hold my heart’s every beat

Nothing I do is worthy
No matter how long I could live
My whole world You own
My every sin You forgive
Only one thing is needful
Simple thanks is all I can give
